 Blue Mountains National Park

The Blue Mountains National Park has been accorded the status of a national park in New South Wales which lies 81 km west of Sydney in the Great Dividing Range. Spread over a huge acre of land, it covers around 2,470 square kilometer. Majority of the area of comprises of a plateau and rivers forming a large part of its unparalleled landscape.

The highest mountainous point in the park is Mt Werong while Nepean River is the lowest. Various stories have been attributed behind the origin of Sydney Blue Mountains National Park as some environmentalists believe that due to the presence of blue hues created as a result of oil discharge from the abundant eucalyptus trees that the place is known as Blue Mountains National Park.

Some of the major attractions of Blue Mountains National Park include-- the Greater Blue Mountains Area which is a World Heritage Site comprising of tablelands, cliffs, deep, valleys and hilly deluges. The presence of herbs well contributes to the natural diversity of Australian vegetation and natural life. It’s important to note that there are four major rivers inside the park which are known as the Wollangambe River which lies in the north, the Grose River flowing in the centre, the Coxs and Wollondilly Rivers in the south.
