The city of Sydney is one of the tourist destinations located in the country of Australia. Numerous tourist attractions in Sydney attract those who are on Australia tours. The beaches in Sydney have always delighted the tourists. You could also pay a visit to the Australian historic sites in Sydney which are found in the Australia city. Amongst the historic sites in Sydney you could visit the Justice and Police Museum, State Theater, Australian National Maritime Museum, SH Ervin Gallery, etc. The State Theater in Sydney Australia is one of the must visits for the tourists. In this portal you would be given a Sydney-Overview of the State Theater.

The State Theater is one of the fantasy palaces in Sydney which was constructed in the 1920s. It was then hailed as one of the best of its kind owing to the design and the number of people which it could accommodate. Henry Eli White was the architect of this wonderful place and it is easily one of his best projects. If you find the State Theater reminding you of similar works done by the American John Eberson, then do not be surprised. Henry Eli White was greatly influenced and inspired by the American architect and it is quite natural for his admiration to be reflected in the form of the State Theater. In fact Eberson was also a part of the project for some time.

Some of the interesting places for the tourists to visit in the State Theater include the lobby, the crush spaces, etc. The galleries located in the State Theater are also quite impressive and fantastic to behold. This is the theater located in Sydney where the famous Sydney Film Festival is held. The first time when the theater was opened to the public was in the year 1929. The Patriot was the first performance held at the historic theater. At that time the State Theater was known as the British Empire’s Greatest Theater.

The Wurlitzer organ is also something which you could check out when you visit the place. It is the largest one located in the world leaving out the United States of America. The State Theater can accommodate a total of 2,000 persons during a performance. The live performances at the theater would not fail to leave you awestruck. The theater is famous throughout the world and many of the famous artists have performed at the theater. Some of the famous people who have been associated with the State Theater include Bette Midler, Shirley Maclaine, Whoopi Goldberg, Rudolph Nureyev, Mikael Baryshnikov, Stephane Grappelli, Sting and Harry Connick Jnr.
